Flame Test Lab

Introduction: Some metals ions can be identified by the color of their flame during a flame test. Different elements placed into a flame will turn the flame different colors.
Essential Question: What metals do colors indicate?

chemical formula                                Name of metal                                   Color Produced
CuCl2                                                         copper                                                       Green
KNO3                                                         Potassium                                              Pink & Purple
Sr(NO3z)                                                    Strontium                                                    Red
CoCl3                                                         Cobalt                                                         Green
LiNo3                                                         lithium                                                     Red & Orange
MgCl2                                                        Magnesium                                            White-ish Sparks
KNO3                                                         Potassium                                                Pink & Purple

Questions: 1 - The inaccuracies involved when using a flame for identification purposes?
If your color blind you wont be able to recognize the colors correctly.
2 - it was easy to recognize elements that I didn't know is when they came up I would just right them down and look them up later.
